Some sketches emerge from observation, but this one emerged from worship. As I sat in fellowship during service, the Lord brought to mind His unchanging standard and the solid foundation He provides. This prophetic piece isn’t just a drawing; it’s a declaration of truth captured in neutral browns and greys with a golden plumbline cutting through.

Scripture Reflections
Below are a list of scriptures that reference cornerstone, plummet, and plumbline.
Plumbline: A cord with a weight plummet used to establish a true vertical line.
“As it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense: and whosoever believe on him shall not be ashamed.” Romans 9:33
Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. Isaiah 28:17

1 Peter 2:6
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. {KJV}
Zechariah 4:10
For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth. {KJV}
Amos 7:7-8
Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand. And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more. {KJV}
Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? {KJV}
John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. {KJV}

The Meaning Behind the Image
The plumbline, painted in gold, represents God’s perfect measure of truth and righteousness. Scripture tells us that Christ is the cornerstone, the sure foundation laid in Zion (Romans 9:33, 1 Peter 2:6). Isaiah 28:17 declares that God will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line. The weight of the plumbline hangs steady and true, just as God’s Word never fails (Numbers 23:19, John 17:17).
As the songs “Greater Things,” “Who Else,” and “Who You Say I Am” played during worship, the composition took shape. Who else but the Lord establishes what is straight and true? Who else but Christ can be the cornerstone against which all things are measured? The prophets Amos and Zechariah both speak of the plumbline as God’s way of testing His people and His work. The neutral browns and greys represent our humanity and the structures we build, while the gold plumbline cuts through with divine authority, reminding us that God alone sets the standard.
This sketch is both a declaration and a surrender: acknowledging that He is the cornerstone, the measure, and the foundation of everything.
In a world that constantly shifts what it calls true, the plumbline reminds me that God’s standard never changes. He is the cornerstone that holds everything together, and His Word is the measure by which all things are tested. This sketch will remain as a visual reminder that when everything else feels uncertain, He is steady, sure, and unmovable.
Blessings to you in the name of my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ,
